“I think it’s the first time that someone proposed during my match,” she said. “It was a very sweet moment, but I was just trying not to start smiling, because it’s very cute, and I believe they’re super happy right now.”
When the press asked if she hoped “somebody else in the crowd got some ideas,” she replied, “I don’t want this kind of proposal. But I looked at my boyfriend. Yeah. No pressure.”

Who is Georgios Frangulis?
Frangulis was raised in Brazil but comes from a Greek family: his grandfather, Georgios, emigrated from Thessaloniki, though his father, Eleftherios, was born in Brazil as well. But his ancestry is very important to him, according to his February 2025 profile in the Greek Herald.
“I can say we were always a Greek family, in how we see the world, our values, and the way I was raised. I feel 100 percent Greek,” he explained.
He became very successful via his açaí bowl company, Oakberry. He shared that he went to law school with the intention of being a lawyer but realized he was “an entrepreneur at heart.”
“I always knew I would build a business and create something that would bring joy and good things to people,” he added.
Oakberry began in Brazil but took off massively in the United States. In 2023, the company raised $67 million in capital, according to a post on Traded: Venture Capital’s Instagram.
Frangulis is also an avid race car enthusiast, and once dreamed of being a driver and owning a Formula 1 team. He has even competed in 128 races at the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge, per Driver Database.

In January 2024, she even became a brand ambassador for Oakberry.
“Aryna Sabalenka is a great example of the future of tennis, and we are working closely with her to create some really exciting things over the years,” Frangulis said. “We can’t wait for our fans to get involved!”
How long have they been together?
In April 2024, the pair was seen together for the first time. Sabalenka’s late boyfriend, ice hockey player Konstantin Koltsov, had passed away earlier that year. In an August 2024 interview with People, Sabalenka shared how Frangulis supported her during her grief, saying, “There was a really tough period where I was really happy to have him by my side, always cheering me up, always making sure that we are doing some fun stuff.”
She wished him a happy birthday in September of that year, writing on Instagram, “Happy birthday meu amor, I’m so lucky to have you by my side. Your support is priceless 🦖🐒❤️💜❤️.”
When did Sabalenka and Frangulis get engaged?
Sabalenka and Frangulis announced their engagement on March 3, 2026. The tennis star revealed the news on Instagram with photos and a video showing the proposal, which took place beside a candlelit pool surrounded by flowers. In the clip, Frangulis knelt down to ask the question before the two hugged, and Sabalenka showed off her ring.
She captioned the post, “You & me, forever ♾️ 3.3.26 💍🤍.”
In a separate Instagram post, Sabalenka added, “I can finally call him something else… FIANCÉ 💍.”
The engagement ring featured a large oval diamond set on a platinum band with emerald accents.
According to jewelry designer Isabela Grutman, who collaborated with Frangulis on the design, the piece was intentionally personalized. “I’ve always admired their love and relationship, so I was incredibly flattered when Georgios asked me to design this piece,” she told Page Six Style. “We spent months working on the design, selecting the stones, and perfecting every detail of the craftsmanship to make it truly special for Aryna. What made it even more meaningful was Georgios’s idea to incorporate emeralds into the design, as it’s her favorite stone—a personal touch that makes the ring uniquely hers.”
