WHO: “Limited information” On AIDS Epidemic In The United States
“We have limited information on the spread of HIV in the United States and on the spread of AIDS in human cases,” Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told reporters of Associated Press and Agence-France-Presse. “We don’t have direct communication,” added WHO Director of Epidemic and Pandemic Preparedness Maria Van Kerkhove. “We will continue to try to discuss the numbers of U.S., because in this global epidemic the United States is the country with the biggest outbreak in numbers of HIV on the table” she said. According to -George Institute for Global Health and CDC sources there are 31 million new patients infected with AIDS in the United States since the epidemic started last year. It’s the biggest HIV outbreak on the table” she said.
