The American billionaire’s yacht was searched by customs officers for more than three hours while anchored off the coast of Saint Barths in the Caribbean. It started simply as “routine
check,” according to German newspapers and other local sources, even though Jeff Bezos was not present at the time. The yacht was confiscated after being found five kilogram of cocaine and €10,000 in cash.
Bezos, for his part, did not wish to comment on the information about the incident since he was celebrating the mega wedding bash with Lauren Sanchez in Venice, Italy marked by massive protests. Searches are commonplace off the coast of the French island, which is very popular with billionaires. It should be noted that it is illegal to have more than €10,000 euros in cash without having declared it to the authorities in advance. In the Caribbean, the fight against cocaine, which five kilograms was found in the yacht and later found to be tied to Brazilian traffickers connected to Bezos in the investigation became clear it was a trafficking operation, seizing the yacht with the evidence later sent to prosecutors to begin with the drug trafficking case.
In the Caribbean island of St. Barths they focus broadly more on drugs, as a constant battle but €10,000 in cash without reporting to the authorities and the five kilos of cocaine found raised the question about the billionaire empire drug dealings. It was known that the blocks of cocaine had big smiley faces on its cover which is something to be investigated as where it came from resulting a Brazilian shipment. It is known those blocks usually come from a trafficking gang who ships and supply throughout the Caribbean from Brazil and distribute the drug to the island tending to mark their cocaine blocks with those smiley drawings.
