The man accused of killing UnitedHealthcare’s CEO has been charged with murder as an act of terrorism, prosecutors said Tuesday as they worked to bring him to a New York court from from a Pennsylvania jail. Luigi Mangione already was charged with murder in the Dec. 4 killing of Brian Thompson, but the terror allegation is new.

The shooting occurred Thursday around 5:40 p.m. near 16th Street and Missouri Avenue in northwest Washington, according to Jeffery W. Carroll, interim chief of the Metropolitan Police Department. Carroll said an argument broke out on a bus, the bus stopped, and the people involved continued fighting off the vehicle before shots were fired.

The incident occurred on Sunday when a suspicious items was found in the South Terminal area, according to Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office. Authorities reported that they closed TSA security checkpoints for concourses G, H, and J, along with the curbside roadway, while the items reported as a bomb were investigated.

Orlando Diaz, 20, was discovered with a gunshot wound to the head just before 10 p.m. Monday on the 1600 block of Brill Street, after officers responded to a report of a person with a gun, authorities said. Orlando was sitting in the driver’s seat of a silver Honda Accord, according to investigators. He was taken to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.
