Another pro-Putin lawmaker fell from the third floor of a house. The mysterious series of deaths of influential entrepreneurs around Russian President Vladimir Putin continues. There is speculation about the causes of the sudden death.

The Essentials in Brief

  • In the oil-rich Tobolsk region of Russia, a parliamentarian died after falling from the third floor of a house.
  • Vladimir Egorov was a member of the pro-Putin United Russia party and a member of a regional parliament.
  • Despite speculation, according to media reports, the police are still investigating the cause of the fall.

Another mysterious death of a parliamentarian close to Putin has occurred in Russia in recent days. As “Sputnik” reported on December 29, citing Russian media, 46-year-old Vladimir Egorov died after falling from a window from the third floor of a house on Kedrovaya Street in Tobolsk in the Tyumen region.

The body of the member of the pro-Putin party “United Russia” was found on the street on Wednesday, according to the Russian media portal “Sputnik”. Egorov was a member of a regional parliament in the city Duma of Tobolsk in central Russia.

There is still speculation about the causes of the fall. According to information from Russian social networks, he wanted to get some fresh air and fainted. According to the official obituary, it was an accident. According to the Telegram channel “Baza”, the police are still investigating. Some sources report that there were no visible signs of the politician’s violent death.

Suspicious deaths in Russia are increasing

In connection with the Ukraine war led by President Vladimir Putin, several suspicious deaths of influential people from Russia have occurred in the past. In June, the 27-year-old vice president of the Russian bank Kristina Baikova fell out of a window in Moscow. Furthermore, in February, Putin confidant and head of the Russian Defense Ministry, Marina Yankina, was found dead on the street next to her home in St. Petersburg – also from a fall from a window. She reportedly played a crucial role in financing the war in Ukraine .

In December 2022, billionaire and war critic Pawel Antow fell from the third floor of his hotel while visiting India. Previously, in September, the CEO of the Russian oil company Lukoil, Rawil Maganov, died of unknown causes. According to Russian media, a suspected defenestration was also responsible for his death. His company called for an end to the war shortly after the invasion of Ukraine.

As can be seen from the “Sputnik” report, possible heart problems are said to be responsible for Egorov’s recent death. This is how the Russian media argued in numerous suspicious deaths of prominent businessmen from Russia. The connection with window falls is questionable.

In the oil-rich region of Tobolsk, Egorov was considered one of the wealthiest city residents in Russia. He was a trained lawyer and founded a law firm in 2001. He later moved into public administration and sat on the committee for land affairs and forests. Egorov was involved in a corruption scandal in 2016. He then had to leave the city administration and found himself in politics. He leaves behind a wife and two children.
