“It felt scary,”
Her role in the “Harry Potter” films made her an absolute mega-star. But Emma Watson (33) seems to be missing from Hollywood for several years. Her last film “Little Women” was released in 2019 – since then things have become quiet about her acting. Apparently a very conscious decision, as Watson now tells the British “Vogue”. said in an interview.

Withdrawal was “A Very Big Decision”
When asked if it was hard to turn down big Hollywood roles, Watson replied: “Being in a job where everything happens very quickly, the decision to make time for these things was a big one decision,” she admits. “The decision to retire and write and study and go behind the camera felt scary because I had never done it before. I’ve always been in front of the camera. I had always been the actress.”
But the difficult decision was the right one: “I’m so glad I did it because I feel like I can use my own voice and have creative freedom and sovereignty that I didn’t have before – more autonomy .” “She’s glad she allowed things to be messy for a minute and I really allowed myself to not know what was coming next because I wouldn’t trade the knowledge I’ve gained for anything want.”
Back from break
In spring 2023, Emma Watson reported back to her followers on Instagram after a long break from social media. “I left my life behind – I learned to surf (badly), I rode horses (that worked better), I did a lot of therapy,” she wrote on the occasion of her 33rd birthday. She also teamed up with her younger brother Alex Watson (30) for a new project called Renais and adopted a dog named Sofia from Mexico.
The post showed how she seems to be coming more and more into her own center, it continued: “It took three years, but I finally found a daily routine and can stick to it for more than a few days at a time. ” She feels like a butterfly today after she wasn’t ready to come out of her “Covid cocoon” on her birthday last year.
