Celebrities made surprising choices when it comes to shoes this year. For example, Victoria Beckham wore the MSCHF x Croc boots , Emma Watson the Loewe Toy pumps and Rihanna the ‘naked’ mesh ballerinas from Alaïa. Dua Lipa is also known for her love for the unusual shoe. Consider, for example, her Mary Janes from Maison Margiela in tabi style . She now surprises everyone by pulling out a classic. As 2023 – the year of the wrong shoe – comes to an end, this might be the most unconventional fashion statement a star can make. Dua Lipa is wearing Chanel slingbacks.

Dua Lipa wears Chanel slingbacks

During an outing in New York this week, the Houdini singer was spotted in her signature off-duty style. She wore low-rise baggy jeans, a black zip-up leather biker jacket that showed off her midriff, statement silver earrings and a black leather crossbody bag adorned with chain detailing. The twist? Her shoes: a pair of iconic black and white slingbacks from Chanel, a timeless investment for the fashion-conscious.

First introduced by Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel in 1957, the two-tone slingback pumps have since been redesigned by the late Karl Lagerfeld and by Virginie Viard. Lagerfeld introduced the flat ballerina style in 1984. This year, the classic shoe made a comeback as a summer must-have, adorning the feet of stars like Lily-Rose Depp, Kylie Jenner and Rihanna. Now redhead Dua Lipa proves that Chanel slingbacks are also good for winter.
