Jennifer Lawrence is not necessarily known as someone who has always dressed minimalist. As an ambassador for Dior, her wardrobe has followed the creative imaginations of the atelier; with her looks she reflects the bold message of creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri says The Hunger Games star’s style is slowly changing – thanks in part to her friendship with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen and a slight addiction to all things The Row.
Jennifer Lawrence minimalist red carpet style
Since Lawrence’s first Zipped Boot 1s – a staple among The Row fans – understated luxury and carefully considered basics have been slowly replacing the floral dresses, colorful shoes and dungarees that once defined Lawrence’s style. This also happened during the press tour for No Hard Feelings, her first project since returning from maternity leave. For her red carpet looks, the actress opted for minimalist ensembles in a monochrome color palette, where she clearly feels most like herself.
This transformation was also visible at the Golden Globes this week. There, Jennifer Lawrence’s new penchant for clean lines, great tailoring and less-is-more styling was confirmed; she wore a dark, velvet Dior dress with subtle Grecian draping details at the back – and looked amazing. A special look that is very simple at the same time. With her mermaid-like hair combed to one side to reveal a Tiffany & Co. earring and necklace, Lawrence took a step toward classic movie star glamor – in keeping with the Old Hollywood style of Jennifer Aniston, Dua Lipa and Kylie Jenner at the awards season kick-off event.
Apart from the crowd
Proof that Lawrence doesn’t follow the crowd, however, came at the event’s afterparty. There, the 33-year-old actress wore an ocher yellow velvet Proenza Schouler dress with another backless twist – a fitted silhouette in a striking shade. (Previously she also showed off her skills in the red trend ). A far cry from the movie star who previously mainly found himself in the world of decorated couture pieces.
The chances that Lawrence will hit the red carpet for the rest of the awards season are slim due to the criticism of No Hard Feelings. Too bad, because the actress is just starting to consolidate her style. The collaboration with Dior in particular has never looked so chic.
