The Princess of Wales recently confirmed that she and her family had welcomed a new puppy, Otto, into their lives. And during her appearance at a Buckingham Palace garden party, she shared a story that will be familiar to anyone with a pet pooch in their life.

Speaking with a guest at the party, she revealed that the puppy had “chewed quite a lot the other day”. The royal then added: “You have to keep them busy. The first thing we do in the morning is check, ‘Has anyone taken Otto out?'”

The mother-of-three looked glorious at the garden party, which she hosted with her husband, Prince William, on behalf of King Charles. During the event, Kate was seen wearing a cream dress from Self Portrait. earrings from the late Queen and a personal bracelet.

It was confirmed earlier this month that William and Kate had welcomed a new puppy into their family. The puppy came from a litter of their dog, Orla, who gave birth to four puppies last May, with the brood appearing in a social media video posted by William the following June.

The news was confirmed when Kensington Palace shared a photo of the pooch as he marked his first birthday. The caption read: “Welcome to the family, Otto! 1 today.”

Kate had previously confirmed that the family had a puppy living with them back in February, when she remarked: “We’ve got a little puppy, he’s only eight months.”

The family’s other dog, Orla, has featured in some of the royals’ most pivotal moments, including Kate’s video in which she shared an update on her cancer journey.
