How old is your counterpart? What’s sometimes difficult to estimate can apparently be seen in the way Gen Z and Millennials wear a blouse. The way you wear your blouse also apparently allows conclusions to be drawn about your age.
The “French Tuck” gives you away
How do you wear your blouse? Tucking part of the fabric into the front of your waistband shows that you are a Millennial (born between 1981 and 1995). At least that’s what some users explain in videos on Tiktok. The way of tucking your blouse into your waistband is called “French tuck”. And so apparently everyone born before Gen Z (born between 1996 and 2010) wears it.

A prominent fan of the “French Tuck” is Duchess Meghan, who often wears the look in public. At 42 years old, she is just one of the millennials. But how does Gen Z wear blouses? Completely or not at all: The items of clothing are either no longer tucked into the pants – or completely. While the theory applies particularly to blouses because they are often tucked into pants, it works with almost any top.

Tiktok video leads to discussions
A video by content creator Brianna Archuletta is getting a lot of attention. In the clip, she realizes that Millennials wear their tops differently than members of Gen Z. Others then share their opinions on tucking in their tops and ask how to do it better.

Archuletta, who started the discussions, told Buzzfeed : “I will definitely stick to tucking in the blouse. Even though it’s not the hottest styling method, I think it’s important to interpret trends through our own sense of style.”
Apparently she doesn’t care that she can be recognized as a millennial. She says: “I don’t worry too much about who classifies me as how old.” There are some opinions in the comments about the way to tuck in the blouse. One user writes: “I do the ‘French Tuck’ every day. There’s nothing there.”
In another comment, a user asks: “Does it actually matter to us whether people know that we are Millennials?” Another comment reads: “I’m Gen Z and I tuck my blouse in the front too.” According to the theory, as a person from Gen Z you would wear the blouse more like the influencer Olivia Hirst here.
