A group of around 30 US psychiatrists and other mental health professionals have raised serious concerns about Donald Trump. In a joint statement published in the British Medical Journal, the experts express significant worries about the president’s mental state.
According to the report, experts believe that Trump is not physically fit to properly perform the duties of the US president. In their statement, they describe him as a “clear and immediate danger.”
Demand for removal from office
The experts go even further: They advocate for the president’s removal from office. In their view, this is based on striking changes in his behavior and cognitive abilities.
Examples cited by the doctors include an allegedly noticeable decline in mental abilities and moments of unusual fatigue at public appearances.
Accusation of megalomania
Particularly explosive: According to media reports, experts speak of alleged “delusional beliefs” and claim that Trump portrays himself as infallible. Comparisons to religious figures such as Jesus or the Pope are also made in the statement.
Donald Trump himself has repeatedly stated in the past that he is in excellent physical and mental health. The US president has not yet commented on the current allegations.
