Hudson returns to the screens in a Netflix series that combines warmth and a feminist approach, with a woman at the center of the sports world. We just love to see that.
Running Point – a 10-episode series produced and co-written by Mindy Kaling – is the story of a “neglected” woman (played by Kate) who becomes president of the family business, the Los Angeles Waves basketball franchise . She has to prove to herself, the sports world, her family and all those who doubt her that she can take on this job.
“Ambitious and often neglected, Isla will have to prove to the skeptics, her brothers, the board and the wider sporting community that she was the right choice for this position.” Over the course of the series, she will — especially in the unpredictable, male-dominated world of sports.”
From the hit-making team of Mindy Kaling, Ike Barinholtz and David Stassen, Running Point delivers a bold twist on the comedy of the unknown.”
Joining the cast of the series in addition to Kate Hudson are Brenda Song (The Last Showgirl), Drew Tarver, Scott MacArthur, Fabrizio Guido, Toby Sandeman, Chet Hanks, Jay Ellis and Max Greenfield from the series New Girl .
According to Netflix’s TUDUM, Brenda Song will portray the character of Ali Lee, who is described as the “intimidating chief of staff of Waves” and the person who “knows where all the secrets are hidden.” “She understands the complex politics surrounding the Gordon family, having known Isla since they shared a college dorm room,” the character description continues. “She’s fun, she’s tough, and even the biggest guy on the team is afraid of her.”
Max Greenfield, on the other hand, plays the fiance of Kate’s character Isla, who is described as a “good-natured pediatrician who enthusiastically supports his love.” Too cute.
Deadline also reported that Justin Theroux will guest star, but this has yet to be confirmed on IMDB.
All episodes of Running Point will be available on Netflix on February 27.
