Scientists from the Kinsey Institute for Research on Sex and Reproduction have brought fascinating data that reveal the average frequency of sex for different age groups.
According to research, people between the ages of 18 and 29 have the most sex – an average of 112 times a year, which works out to about twice a week. This is followed by the age group of 30 to 39-year-olds with an average number of 86 times a year, and then 40-49-year-olds who have sex roughly 69 times a year. Why does this frequency decrease with age?
It is natural that as we grow older, we are troubled by various health problems that can reduce the desire for sex. Many people suffer from back pain, experience menopause symptoms, or struggle with chronic illnesses, which can affect their sexual desire.
In addition, in a long-term relationship or marriage, the passion can gradually subside. When children and responsibilities are added to the relationship, it is not surprising that sex is no longer a priority.
However, less sex does not mean that it is of lower quality or less satisfying. On the contrary, other studies show that women do not reach the peak of their sexual satisfaction until their mid-thirties, and many of them do not experience their true orgasms until then.
