Hailee Steinfeld Proves Seatbelts Can Also Be Literal Belts

Here’s a question. What if a seatbelt was an actual belt? Well, asked and answered by Hailee Steinfeld in New York City. For her Good Morning America appearance, the singer and actor belted her structured gray jumpsuit with a long black belt of nylong strapping—similar to what you might find in the seat of your two-door sedan. And the result was a surprisingly chic look.

Hailee Steinfeld’s menswear-inspired jumpsuit is by Michael Kors Collection and features pleated details at the waist, padded shoulders, and wide lapels. Trendily, Steinfeld opted to skip the necklace and wore only silver rings and earrings for jewelry, with a natural makeup look and a serious side part in her long, bobbed brown hair.

Also of note, Steinfeld rocked a mulberry mani, which she had debuted a few days earlier at the Sinners movie premiere in Mexico City on March 31. Her nail artist, Tom Bachik, posted about the berry-red nails on his own Instagram, captioning the post, “Sitting pretty in her Mulberry Mani.” For that event Steinfeld wore a high-neck black minidress with a dramatic train to break up the simple silhouette.

“I love getting my hair and makeup done in front of a mirror because I try and study what the heck these masters are doing because the work that they do is magical,”

Steinfeld told George V Magazine in a March 18 interview. “I like to let my hair rest and breathe. It depends on the day, but when I air-dry, it’s a subtle wave. This bob length, it’s fun. I was very afraid when my hair got shorter and the air-drying thing, but it’s actually not terrible. So my air-dry texture is fun to lean into.”

Needless to say, Hailee Steinfeld always finds a way to add a little extra glamour to her looks, and sometimes that involves seatbelts.
