Fashion trends come and go, but sheer clothes are forever—that is, if Emily Ratajkowski has any say about it.
Judging from the My Body author’s latest Instagram photo dump, the sheer trend is here to stay. EmRata recently embarked on a tropical seaside vacation to ring in the new year, accompanied by a throng of friends (including model and Harper’s Bazaar cover girl Adwoa Aboah). On the trip, EmRata made sure to pull out some of her best party dresses.
Leading the carousel of photos is a nighttime snap of the model sipping on a drink while standing in a receding wave. In the picture, she wears a slinky cheetah-print slipdress with romantic black lace trim across the halter neckline. Another photo shows EmRata posing against a moody skyline in a delicate white sheer slipdress, which featured more lace details along the bust, as well as embroidery on the bodice.
The model also included a TikTok video in her post, in which she and friends show off their New Year’s Eve fits. Ratajkowski wore a sophisticated, daring asymmetrical white dress, which featured a slouchy open-back bolt silhouette and a single draping long sleeve. Aboah cut an edgy figure in a metallic blue hooded minidress with ruching details down the side.
“And the 2023 season is complete,” EmRata wrote in the caption.
While she marked the start of 2024 with a sheer dress, Ratajkowski also spent plenty of time in 2023 championing the see-through clothing trend. For instance, in October, the model partied in New York City wearing a black mesh midi dress from Romanian designer Andreea Badala’s brand, Murmur. Prior to that, she turned heads during New York Fashion Week with a minty green see-through lace halterneck dress.
