The spokesman told Agence France-Presse: “We have taken measures to stop this attack and prevent it from recurring in the future,” adding: “We are working directly with the account holders in Washington, D.C. affected by the attack to restore access to them again.

The Microsoft Teams platform did not provide details about this attack, but reports indicated that the attackers used the direct messaging feature.

“We have cooperated closely with NBC to restore access to their account, and implemented enhanced security measures to protect it going forward,” the spokesperson said.

An internal source of Semafor, a news website, was the first to report that NBC’s account had been hacked last week, forcing the network to suspend its presence on Microsoft Teams for several days.
