While denim, 70s bohemian styles, and suede seem to be winning all the votes, other options are available to the most inventive personalities. Alongside the essential summer basics, one style in particular is standing out during the latest Fashion Week: the low-rise jacket.
Low-rise jacket trend: how to wear it this summer 2025?
While it’s customary to want to maximize your legwork when putting together your look, this trend reshuffles the cards and instead elongates the upper body. Seen at the Jacquemus Spring/Summer 2025 show, worn by Doutzen Kroes, the drop-waisted jacket was imagined in dramatic volumes and contrasted with a very preppy skirt.
And beyond the summer season, this trend seems to be gaining momentum, also making its way into the winter wardrobe. During the Fall -Winter 2025-2026 Fashion Week, which took place a few weeks ago, Balmain presented a flamboyant low-waisted jacket, belted at mid-thigh. The same observation at Saint Laurent, where the leather jacket is no longer cropped or very long, but plays the graphic card. Layered over a pencil skirt, also in leather, in a range of neutral shades, it asserts an elegant and structured silhouette.
Still shy on the streets, the low-rise jacket seems to have earned its fashion stripes on the catwalks. While we’re used to associating the low-rise with the 2000s, this trend goes against that aesthetic and gives the look a decidedly contemporary twist. Whether layered over a skirt, like at Jacquemus and Saint Laurent, or worn as a statement piece, like Balmain’s silhouettes, it makes a statement. It’s your move!
