At the intersection of fashion and traditional craftsmanship, one of the most impressive works of art was created that combines two seemingly distant forms of expression — haute couture and Chinese Guangcai porcelain. The respected designer Guo Pei, known for her opulence and narrative silhouettes, joined forces with master Tan Guanghui, holder of a national award for the preservation of China’s intangible cultural heritage, in creating a work that exudes both opulence and deep symbolism.
It is not only a fashion piece, but also a work of art that represents a dialogue between past and future, tradition and modernity, China and the world. Through this collaboration, the artists wanted to redefine the limits of what is possible in their field — Guo Pei through fabrics and silhouettes, and Master Tan through porcelain, which for centuries has symbolized the refinement of Chinese aesthetics.
Their joint creation, Glazed Splendor, showcases a golden gown crafted from more than 6,000 hand-painted Guangcai tiles, each of which has gone through numerous stages of refinement to achieve flawless precision.

Tan Guanghui, on the other hand, comes from a world of quiet and precise art. As a master of Guangcai porcelain—a technique dating back to the Qing Dynasty —he brings the spirit of the past to a contemporary story, using knowledge passed down through the generations. His participation in this project underscores the value of craftsmanship in an era of rapid production and fleeting trends.
