In an emotional interview for a popular podcast, the 68-year-old Oscar-nominated actress said she was the victim of severe physical abuse by an unidentified perpetrator, which left her unconscious and with severe internal injuries.
“I was hit in the back,” the star said. She explained that she has no memory of the attack itself, as she woke up later on the floor. “Everything was turned over. The coffee table was broken, it was all messed up. I had no idea how I got there.”
The true extent of the crime, however, only came to light ten years after the incident. She suffered from chronic pain in her neck and shoulders. Doctors even planned to give her injections to relieve the pain, but after looking at the preliminary X-rays, they were left numb.
Asked by the host if it was a case of domestic violence, Stone said: “I’m not allowed to say.”
The actress has two marriages in her past.
The star is adamant that she is “absolutely certain” who the perpetrator is and that the case was ultimately reported to law enforcement, but has decided not to press formal legal charges.
“I had the opportunity to sue him. But since it had been ten years and since I am a public figure, I decided not to.”
