Following Ali G’s controversial return, he will make his stage debut in London in The Popinjay Cavalier.
After Ali G, Borat and Brüno, Sacha Baron Cohen is preparing to take on a new challenge: the theatre.
The actor and comedian will make his stage debut in The Popinjay Cavalier, the very first play written by Quentin Tarantino, Variety reports.
Baron Cohen is set to star in this swashbuckling comedy, an adventure filled with duels, disguises, and deception. The play will be presented in London’s West End in spring 2027, in a venue yet to be announced.
Little is known about the plot, except that the action will take place in Europe in the 1830s.
For Quentin Tarantino , this is a new playground after cinema.
The director of Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood had announced his intention to turn to the theatre, and The Popinjay Cavalier will finally be his first stage production.
For Sacha Baron Cohen, this foray onto the stage comes as he also prepares to reprise one of his most famous characters. He will soon return as Ali G in Ali G Who Iz I?, a new film produced by Amazon MGM and expected worldwide in October.
