Good news for fans of The Gentlemen – Netflix has officially confirmed the third season of the popular crime drama, and filming has already begun. Guy Ritchie takes over the director’s baton again, while in the new episodes we expect familiar faces, interesting acting reinforcements and even more ambitious criminal ventures.
What will the third season be about?
According to the first details published by Deadline, Eddie Horniman, played by Theo James, and Susie Glass, played by Kaya Scodelario, will embark on their most ambitious project yet – building a casino in the Middle East.
However, their business venture will not be without complications. Danger will lurk at every turn, and the question is whether Eddie’s ambition will go too far this time.
As a reminder, the series follows Eddie, an aristocrat who inherits the family estate in the English countryside after the death of his father, only to soon discover that behind it is an illegal cannabis business connected to the criminal underworld. The third season will continue the story where the previous one ended, with new challenges and the expansion of the criminal empire.
Who is returning and who are the new names in the cast?
Theo James and Kaya Scodelario return in the main roles, while in the third season they will be joined by several well-known acting names.
Among the new members of the cast are Orlando Bloom and Elijah Wood, who the audience remembers from The Lord of the Rings trilogy , as well as Robert Carlyle, Dexter Fletcher, Bruna Marquezine and Bugzy Malone. Also joining the series are Ed Speleers, known for his role in the series You , and Saffron Burrows.
Returning from previous seasons are Ray Winstone, Joely Richardson, Vinnie Jones, Jasmine Blackborow, Harry Goodwins, Benjamin Clementine and Maya Jama. Daniel Ings and Giancarlo Esposito, on the other hand, will not appear in the new episodes.
And what about Meghan Markle?
One of the more interesting rumors that followed the announcement of the new season concerned Meghan Markle, who was rumored to be joining the cast during August.
According to Deadline , preliminary talks were held about her possible engagement, but no specific role was determined at that time. Rumors continued after Netflix confirmed a third season, with Theo James saying in September that talk of her involvement was mostly “a big deal about nothing”.
In October, People and The Telegraph reported that Meghan was no longer being considered for the role. So, at least for now, he will not join the cast of The Gentlemen series .
When is season three coming?
Although Netflix has confirmed the new eight-episode season and announced that production has begun, a premiere date is not yet known.
Guy Ritchie returns as director, and will once again collaborate with Matthew Read on the screenplay. Regarding the continuation of the series, Ritchie stated that a third season seemed inevitable and that he was looking forward to further pushing the boundaries of the story.
While we wait for new information about the release date, one thing is certain – we have another dose of criminal intrigue, unexpected alliances and Guy Ritchie’s signature style ahead of us.
