While the city and seemingly the entire country are on the brink of violent political upheaval, housewife Joy leads a fairly tranquil life in the suburbs with her husband and daughter. But then another pregnancy unexpectedly puts Joy in a life-threatening condition. Suddenly she has to deal with a medical system and doctors who are unwilling to help her. A legal abortion is not possible. Her search for a solution leads her to the “Janes”, a secret women’s organization that offers Joy a safer alternative.

“In Vogue: The 90s”, series

Together with some of the most influential figures in fashion, film and politics, “In Vogue: The 90s” embarks on a gripping world tour through a decade that changed fashion forever. Hollywood, grunge, the Met Gala, the global expansion of American fashion or hip-hop: each episode of the series revolves around a significant aspect of this decade. The first three episodes will be available exclusively on Disney+ from September 13th, the second will start on September 20th.

From September on Disney+

“The Perfect Couple”, series

Greetings from “Big Little Lies”: Amelia Sacks (Eve Hewson) is about to marry into one of the wealthiest families on Nantucket. Her disapproving future mother-in-law, the famous author Greer Garrison Winbury (Nicole Kidman), spares no expense or effort to plan an event that promises to be the biggest wedding of the season – but then a body turns up on the beach. Liev Schreiber, Dakota Fanning and Meghan Fahy (“The White Lotus”) round out the star ensemble.

From September 5th on Netflix

“Uglies”, Film

Joey King plays the lead role in this sci-fi adventure based on the bestseller by Scott Westerfeld: Tally lives in a futuristic world where cosmetic surgery is the order of the day at 16. She can’t wait to join the rest of society. But when her friend runs off, Tally sets out on a search – a search that turns everything she believed in upside down.

“The Queen of Villains”, series

This Netflix series from Japan tells the largely unknown story of Dump Matsumoto (Yuriyan Retriever), a professional wrestler whose cult-like popularity sparked a female wrestling boom and took Japan by storm in the 1980s.

From September 19th on Netflix

“Three Daughters”, film

In this moving and humorous portrait of family dynamics, three sisters gather in a New York apartment to care for their ailing father. Katie (Carrie Coon), a Brooklyn mother, is a control freak who has her hands full with her wayward teenage daughter. Free-spirited Christina (Elizabeth Olsen) is a very different kind of mother, separated from her offspring for the first time. And Rachel (Natasha Lyonne) is a stoner who loves sports betting and has never left home – much to the chagrin of her two half-sisters, who share a different mother and worldview. But deep affection also seeps through the cracks of the dysfunctional family.

“For the Fighters, for the Crazy”, Season 2, Series

The second season of this drama is also new on Netflix : Two years have passed since Daniele was in the psychiatric clinic. Since then, he and Nina have become parents and separated shortly after the birth of little Maria. Now, supported by their very different families, they are fighting over custody of their little daughter. Daniele’s psyche is therefore threatening to get out of control again.
