For spring-summer 2026, Louis Vuitton introduces an object that immediately holds your gaze. In French, ‘coffret’ means a small box, while ‘coquillage’ translates to shell. Together, they describe one of the maison’s most ambitious accessories in recent memory. The Coffret Coquillage is, essentially, a hard-sided jewellery case in the shape of a shell.
Specifically, the design references the carved scallop motifs that decorate the apartments of Anne of Austria within the Louvre Palace. As such, history and ornamentation converge in a distinctly modern object.
On the outside, the Coffret Coquillage features the house’s signature Monogram Canvas. Of course, this graphic motif has graced trunks and luggage since 1896 designed by Georges Vuitton. Here, however, it takes on an almost surreal quality against the sculptural form. Meanwhile, golden brass hardware, with an S-lock flanked by dual clasps, announces your jewels are safely home with a satisfying click.
Open the lid, and the interior reveals its true complexity. It is 3D-printed into a scalloped form and lined in lagoon-blue microfibre. Indeed, the colour mirrors the hue of shallow tropical waters. Inside, thoughtfully arranged compartments hold bracelets, watches and rings, while two side cushions secure earrings. Every element feels carefully considered and intuitively placed.
Louis Vuitton’s hard-sided pieces always operate at the intersection of utility and art. The Coffret Coquillage fits seamlessly within that philosophy, while pushing it further. Retailing at SGD20,300, it is available at Louis Vuitton boutiques and online in Singapore.
