For the Cruise 2027 Show by Louis Vuitton, creative director Nicolas Ghesquière builds a bridge between two worlds – Paris and New York. The collection sees itself as a tribute to the contrasts of the American metropolis: Uptown meets downtown, past meets future, European craftsmanship merges with American pop culture.

At the center of the show is New York as a place of diversity and permanent reinvention. Ghesquière takes up the different identities of the city and translates them into a wardrobe that reinterprets American classics. Denim, jersey and leather are refined by French savoir-faire and get a luxurious, almost futuristic dimension. Above all, the focus is on strong, independent images of women – dynamic, free and full of energy.

The connection to Pop Art receives special attention. The starting point for this was a find in the archives of Louis Vuitton: a suitcase from the 1930s, which was once designed as a canvas by the American artist Keith Haring. This chance encounter now serves as a central source of inspiration for the Cruise collection. Several works of Haring appear on garments and accessories and transform bags and fabrics again into artistic “canvases”. In doing so, the Maison not only honors Haring’s iconic visual language, but also the power of pop culture as a universal medium.

The collection was presented in the historic rooms of The Frick Collection – a symbolic place where American and French culture have always met. The backdrop underlined the idea of the collection: a dialogue between eras, identities and stylistic worlds. Elements of American everyday life such as slot machines, automobile chassis or embossed leather meet allusions to the glamorous Gilded Age and are re-contextualized in the looks.

The color palette is bright and optimistic, while embroidery, sequins and graphic details are reminiscent of graffiti. The past and the future exist at the same time – just like the city itself. With the Cruise 2027 collection, Nicolas Ghesquière designs a visual journey through New York for Louis Vuitton that fuses fashion, art and cultural identity.
