From bright citrus and luxuriant rose to green and smoky tones, the new collection explores the different faces of an amber base
There are perfume collections that talk about one specific note, and those that make a whole little world out of it. New editions within the Crafted Collection of LOEWE belong to this second category. Five new fragrances start from the same amber base, but develop in completely different directions, from bright citrus tones and delicate flowers, through rose and spices, all the way to green and smoky accords.
The common denominator of the collection is LOEWE Accord , a resinous amber base that home perfumer Nuria Cruelles used as a kind of canvas. Instead of building each fragrance as a separate story with no points of contact, Cruelles decided to explore how many different faces the same base can show.
The result is five compositions that have a common DNA, but completely different characters.
From citrus to floral notes
” Field Diary ” is the most airy of the new fragrances and almost seems to evoke a moment spent in nature. Tangerine and blood orange give it a bright opening, while lychee and orange blossom appear in the heart. Artemisia adds an aromatic, slightly bitter dimension, while sandalwood and musk leave a soft trail on the skin.
In contrast, ” Sweet Woodland ” brings a warmer and more sensual atmosphere. Patchouli and vanilla build a rich base, while rose, mandarin orange, orange blossom and ginger continue in the heart. A discreet cognac accord additionally warms the composition and gives it a spicy character.
And then comes ” Rosetopia “, a fragrance for those who love roses without reservation. Damask rose is the star here, surrounded by amber, musk, grapefruit and pink pepper. The composition is intense and expressive, but thanks to the citrus and spicy nuances, it does not remain one-dimensional.
The greener and smoky side of the collection
The remaining two scents go in a slightly cooler, greener direction.
” Smoky Rain ” is meant to be the scent of nature right after the rain. Bergamot and pink pepper bring freshness, while the smoky and warmer side of the composition gradually appears behind them. Amber, patchouli and white musk give it depth and a characteristic, slightly mysterious finish.
” Verdant Grove ” plays the unexpected match card. Pistachio and bergamot open the fragrance, iris and orange blossom connect its different layers, and then the composition turns into gourmand tones of caramel and vanilla. The cedar and musk finish gives it a woody structure and prevents it from going too far in the sweet direction.
Scents that need to be touched
With the new Crafted collection, the visual identity is not just an accompanying element of the perfume. LOEWE pays special attention to materials and textures, so each bottle comes with a granite cap that is designed to be as interesting to the touch as it is to the eye.
The very finish of the bottles changes from one edition to the next — there are high gloss and matte surfaces, but also textures reminiscent of moisture or fine powder. In this way, the idea of raw material, which is at the very center of the collection, goes from a fragrant composition to a physical object.
The new editions thus continue what LOEWE has already established as one of the recognizable principles of its perfume aesthetics: instead of piling up notes to the point of unrecognizability, individual ingredients are given space to be noticed. And that’s why the five new fragrances, even though they rest on the same amber base, act like five different moods — five ways to tell the same idea in a different olfactory language.
