Inspired by the Garden of Eden, this bold detail sets the tone. In front of you, a marble counter topped with a confessional grille, subdued lighting, and a sofa with sensual curves.
Located in the heart of the Haut Marais, in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris, the Boudoir des Muses occupies a building steeped in history. A former theater closed by order of Napoleon in 1807 – because “the ladies who exhibited themselves there were said to be of too loose morals” –, then a forgotten convent, this atypical place remained unoccupied for more than a century. It has now been reborn in the form of a brand new… and atypical hotel. Its atrium, dominated by a 12-meter-high glass and steel dome, is a sight to behold as soon as you enter. Around it, spiral corridors lead to the rooms, as if you were backstage at a theater.
A timeless hotel
The hotel is not content with its decor: it lives to the rhythm of immersive performances. Regularly, artists – musicians, authors, dancers – take over the theater. And if you come on a Wednesday or Thursday evening, you might well fall under the spell of the sensual cabarets orchestrated by Maud’Amour.
At Boudoir des Muses, the bar is also a spectacle. Under a chandelier with theatrical fringes, you can sit comfortably on velvet stools to explore a cocktail menu that is out of the ordinary. The combinations are surprising, like a revisited spritz with melon liqueur or a non-alcoholic cocktail infused with jasmine. And if you are feeling a little peckish, the snack menu plays on contrasts: hot and cold, cooked and raw. To share, of course, because here, everything is designed to create moments.
Rooms designed for rest
When it’s time to go back to your room, the contrast is striking. While the common areas play on shadow and mystery, the rooms are intended to be light and soothing. Soft bedding, cream velvet curtains, and touches of warm colors: everything has been designed so that you can relax.
One detail catches the eye: above each bed, the portrait of a muse watches over you. Some rooms still reveal traces of the past, such as period wooden colonnades, while others offer a view of the rooftops of Paris. For an even more exclusive experience, the Apartment under the roofs (photo below), with its exposed beams and cozy atmosphere, is perfect for a stay with friends or family.
A moment of well-being
Finally, it is impossible to leave the place without having tested the private bathing rooms. Imagine: a pool dug into the stone, an enveloping hammam, or even a jacuzzi dressed in emerald green. These spaces, subdued and elegant, are designed for relaxation! The decor is neat down to the smallest details: bronze ceilings, comfortable benches, and golden waves encrusted in the polished concrete floor.
