Titled “The Right Person Will Stay,” this thirteen-track country album marks a turning point in her musical career, promising to expand her repertoire and attract new listeners. While awaiting its release, two newly released tracks set the tone.
Three years ago, Lana Del Rey released Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd. Her ninth studio album was a poetic folk ballad , perfect for listening sessions that immersed listeners in the very foundations of the star. The lengthy album title suggests a slow, deliberate listening experience, exploring her signature melancholy and spiritual harmonies. Having delivered this lyrical feat , it seems Lana Del Rey traded her California motels and towering palm trees for a road trip through Mississippi, seeking to become its siren. On the road, the indie pop star took a country turn.
“The music world is turning towards country. It’s happening.” In her own words, spoken live at Billboard’s pre-Grammy Awards party in February 2024, the singer championed this musical evolution. A journey alongside her star producer, Jack Antonoff, whom she honored on stage, reminiscing about their escapades from Muscle Shoals to Nashville, where she performed Tammy Wynette’s “Stand By Your Man” at Robert’s Western World in September 2023. After gradually experimenting with country over the past four years, Lana Del Rey is finally ready to take the plunge. Proof of this lies in the tracks “Henry, Come On” and “Bluebird,” released on April 11 and 18, respectively— acoustic ballads composed of acoustic guitar and introspective lyrics, the first folk harmonies sketching out her intimate and stripped-down work.

Announced for May 21, 2025, Lana Del Rey’s tenth album is sure to be eagerly awaited, with its first live performance at Stagecoach, the Coachella of country music, on April 25. “I am so grateful that my 13 tracks came together with my beautiful work with Luke, Jack, Zach, and Drew Erickson, among others,” she wrote in the caption of her album cover, designed by her sister, which features a black and white profile of the singer framed by a retro passe-partout.
The Right Person Will Stay, the fruit of a promising collaboration with its brilliant producers, heralds a soaring country sound, blending blues and folk with a lasso-like force, as its first tracks attest, and many more to come…
