Few footwear styles capture the carefree spirit of summer quite like the flip-flop – long loved for its ease, versatility, and unfussy cool. And the brand best known for them? That would be Havaianas, of course. Whether styled with a white tee and jeans à la Hailey Bieber or paired with a string bikini and sarong for sandy beach days ahead, the warm-weather staple has become a firm favourite among fashion people and designers alike.

Isabel Marant and Havaianas will unveil their inaugural summer collaboration: four flip-flop styles ranging from tie-dyed pairs to studded sandals. With Vogue First, Vogue Shopping readers will get exclusive access to shop the drop 48 hours – aka, right now – before anyone else.

When Havaianas first approached Marant with the idea, it took little convincing. Like many people, the designer was not only a fan of the brand, but also a longtime wearer herself. “To me, they represent the Brazilian quintessence of joy, freedom, and summer nonchalance,” she tells Vogue.

Reimagined with sturdier soles wrapped in soft leather and finished with chunky rounded metallic studs, two of the four styles perfectly capture Marant’s signature edgy aesthetic, while the others put her bold use of colour and bohemian-inspired prints firmly on display. Her goal? To create a simple yet “luxurious flip-flop designed to be worn from day to night and from beach to town – even ending at a party!”

Styling-wise, Marant suggests a classic less-is-more approach: “You don’t need to wear a lot – a nice bathing suit and a pareo will do. I also love how you can return to city life and still wear your beloved summer flip-flops with a T-shirt and a great pair of fluid trousers or even jeans.”

No longer just a ’90s throwback, flip-flops are most definitely having a modern-day moment – the partnership between Isabel Marant and Havaianas serves as further proof. And according to Marant, forever en vogue they’ll stay: “I’ve always loved flip-flops. I think they will always remain fashionable because of their easygoing vibe that brings comfort and freedom.” Below, shop the Isabel Marant X Havaianas summer collaboration – available exclusively to Vogue Shopping readers for the next 48 hours.
