Skechers is represented in a current marketing campaign by one of the most successful German-speaking artists: singer Vanessa Mai is now a brand ambassador for Skechers and the face of the UNO campaign. She will also be accompanied by Skechers during her “ForEVER” concert tour.
“It makes me happy that I can support Skechers as a brand ambassador and that the brand will also support me on my tour,” says Vanessa Mai. “It was great to visit the Los Angeles headquarters and shoot my new Skechers Uno fashion sneaker campaign. The colors of the shoes are beautiful and the shoes are incredibly comfortable. It’s going to be a great partnership!”

Vanessa Mai joins a team of Skechers ambassadors that includes music icons Myleene Klass, Ava Max, Chesca and Willie Nelson, TV personalities Joanna Krupa, Brooke Burke and Amanda Kloots, and Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw and a number of retired sports stars including football players Jamie Redknapp and Michael Ballack, American football player and broadcaster Tony Romo and legendary boxer Sugar Ray Leonard.

What convinced you to become a brand ambassador for Skechers?
First of all, I’ve loved Skechers since I was a little girl. I like the variety of sneakers, they suit me perfectly! Secondly, this might sound a bit romantic: my childhood idols like Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera also worked with Skechers in the 2000s. And now, more than 20 years later, I get the chance to represent the same brand in Germany? That’s crazy and little Vanessa would definitely have been happy!
How important are comfortable shoes to you in everyday life and would you say that Skechers ticks all the important boxes?
Comfort and comfortable clothing and shoes are very important to me. Both in private and in public. That’s why they fit so well. I’ve always worn Skechers, it just feels right and authentic and they tick all the important boxes for me.
Are there any fashion trends you’ve worn in the past that you wouldn’t wear today?
Oh my God! Absolutely, but I also live by the motto “never say never.” So, yeah – sometimes I see pictures of myself back then and think, “What was I thinking?”, but on the other hand, I probably felt comfortable and happy in those clothes back then, so there it is difficult to rule something out categorically.
You are a fashion inspiration for many people out there. What is the best fashion tip you have ever received?
Feel good and comfortable in your clothes – then you’ll spread the word! This is more important than just following fashion trends.

What would you be doing today if you hadn’t become a singer?
After school I trained as a media designer. I had a lot of fun with it, but at the same time I realized that I am not an “office person”. So I would probably still do something creative.
What does a normal day in your life look like?
I distinguish between three types of days: Firstly: normal days at home where I do sports, think about things, cuddle with our dog “Ikaro”, plan projects with my husband Andreas and just relax. Secondly: production days for shoots, events or similar, which are always different, but they are always very, very long days and thirdly: days when I produce music or rehearse with my band. There is actually no such thing as a typical Vanessa day. But I love that at the same time!
Hand on heart: Vanessa, you are very active on social media! How much time do you spend on social media per day and how do you keep the balance?
Phew, that’s hard to say. But I would say it’s two to three hours a day. But I also need a break from this world and consciously reduce that every now and then. But at the end of the day, I do what I enjoy and platforms like Instagram or TikTok allow me to let off steam and interact with my fans. This is just great.
Camilla Cabello, Britney Spears, Demi Lovato and other amazing women are part of the Skechers family. How does it feel to be in a team with these well-known singers? Who is your idol?
It’s hard to say: I love them all, but if I had to name my two biggest idols they would be Christina and Britney – in no order.
