Cristiano Ronaldo has renewed his contract with Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr. The Portuguese striker has signed for two more years, securing a record salary. The 40-year-old has landed the biggest contract in history for a footballer.

At 40, Cristiano Ronaldo isn’t about to hang up his boots. The Portuguese footballer has decided to extend his contract with Al-Nassr for two more seasons . While he had been rumored to be leaving, particularly to Wydad Casablanca, the striker ultimately chose to extend his contract with the Saudi club. And for good reason: a compelling argument tipped the scales – a simply stratospheric salary.

According to revelations by the Spanish newspaper Marca on Thursday, June 26, Cristiano Ronaldo has negotiated an annual salary close to €200 million, plus an additional €60 million from the exploitation of his image rights. This would represent approximately €16.67 million per month, €3.85 million per week, nearly €548,000 per day, or more than €23,000 per hour, €380 per minute, and more than €6 per second. These are staggering figures for what appears to be the most lucrative contract ever signed by a footballer.

The highest-paid athlete on the planet

By comparison, Lionel Messi earns approximately €17.6 million per season at Inter Miami, a figure that does not include his substantial income from advertising contracts with brands like Apple and Adidas. In Ligue 1, the highest-paid player last season was Ousmane Dembélé, with an estimated salary of €1.5 million per month at PSG.

According to a ranking published in May by Forbes magazine , Cristiano Ronaldo remains the highest-paid athlete in the world, with annual earnings—including salaries and endorsements—estimated at €246 million. The player nicknamed CR7 far surpasses basketball player Stephen Curry (€139 million) and boxer Tyson Fury (€130 million).
