Over 30 degrees Celsius, sweltering streets, and yet you still want a stylish outfit? The street styles from the fashion capital of Paris show that style and summer heat are not mutually exclusive. A closer look reveals the summer secret of French women.

In hot weather, it’s not just about how short a look is, but above all, what it’s made of. Lightweight materials and loose cuts ensure that clothing is less restrictive and allows for better air circulation. The following street style looks show which pieces are suitable – and how they can be easily recreated.

Cotton or linen Bermuda shorts reach just above the knee and, thanks to their clean cut, appear more sophisticated than short shorts or casual jorts. At the same time, the wide leg drapes gracefully rather than clinging to the skin. In Paris, the light-colored style is paired with a loose-fitting white shirt and flat sandals – an effortless look that remains polished even in high temperatures. At home, Bermuda shorts can be styled just as easily with a simple tank top, a light blouse, or a short-sleeved shirt. A belt, a structured bag, and understated jewelry add further definition to the outfit.

A loosely cut button-up shirt is one of the easiest pieces to wear on hot days. The best option is a model made of lightweight cotton, linen, or a breathable blend that doesn’t cling to the skin. Synthetic fabrics should be avoided because they don’t absorb sweat and moisture as well, which can lead to increased body odor. In Paris, the pink striped shirt is worn open at the neck with the sleeves rolled up high. Pink lace shorts underneath add a playful touch, while flat loafers keep the look suitable for everyday wear. You can easily recreate this outfit with just a few pieces: an oversized shirt, short shorts, and flat shoes – that’s all you need.

Linen remains pleasantly light

For those who prefer to wear long trousers even in high temperatures, lightweight linen is the best choice. The fabric absorbs moisture well and, especially in a wide cut, feels pleasantly loose against the skin. Here, the dark blue trousers are combined with a sleeveless white blouse, a narrow belt, and ballet flats – this way, the wide silhouette still looks polished and sophisticated. If you want to emphasize the fabric even more, combine it with a linen top or a loose linen shirt – a tone-on-tone look also works well.

Silk provides a cool skin feel.

A flowing silk skirt is always a good choice when you want to look a bit more elegant, even in high temperatures. The natural fiber absorbs moisture and feels pleasantly cool against the skin. In Paris, the silk skirt is worn in a cream-colored midi style with a short, blue-and-white striped blouse. White ballet flats pick up the light tone of the skirt, while a burgundy shoulder bag and striking earrings add accents. Silk isn’t just for skirts in summer, though: loose-fitting trousers, shorts, or tops made from the flowing material also work well. At home, you can easily recreate the look with a simple T-shirt, a tank top, or a relaxed shirt – depending on how elegant or casual you want the look to be. Flat sandals or ballet flats are the most stylish footwear choice.

Camisole tops have a light and loose fit.

A camisole top is a great choice on hot days, especially if it’s not only lightweight but also has a loose fit. Models made of silk, linen, or light cotton are usually more comfortable than tight, synthetic versions. In Paris, the slim camisole is paired with a black, slightly sheer midi skirt – this creates an airy look without being too revealing. Black lace-up shoes and a large bag ground the outfit and make it suitable for everyday wear. To recreate this look, wear a simple camisole top with a flowing skirt or wide-leg trousers and keep the rest of the outfit understated.

Volume instead of a tight cut

The balloon pants reveal just how much air is packed into their wide cut, even when you walk. The burgundy style drapes loosely around the legs and only tapers at the ankle. She wears them with a simple black T-shirt, patterned sandals, a small shoulder bag, and gold jewelry. Because the pants themselves are so voluminous, styling doesn’t require much else: a tank top, a fitted shirt, or a simple blouse is all you need. For warmer days, this style is also more comfortable if it’s made from a lightweight fabric.

A sheer top may appear light, but it’s not automatically comfortable in the heat. The material and cut are crucial: loosely draped styles in silk, viscose, or fine cotton are usually more comfortable than tight mesh made of synthetic fibers. Here, the rose-colored sheer top falls generously over the shoulders and arms and is worn over a simple black bra. The voluminous pinstripe trousers echo the fullness of the top, while black mules and a compact clutch add definition to the look. For everyday wear, a bandeau top, a narrow camisole, or a color-coordinated bra works well underneath.
