François Hollande “I Have A pension of 10,000 Euros”

François Hollande discussed his ideas regarding purchasing power and pensions, before revealing his own pension. “I have a pension of 10,000 euros ,” admitted,

It is still unknown whether François Hollande will be a candidate in the next presidential election. In his place, many would certainly choose to enjoy their retirement. A guest on BFMTV on Tuesday, September 16 , the former head of state revealed the amount of his pension. “Between the former president’s pension, which should be 5,000 euros, plus what I receive as a retiree from the Court of Auditors, I have a total pension of 10,000 euros,” he explained.

François Hollande admits to being “a privileged retiree.” Meanwhile, the Lecornu government is working on the country’s next budget. Among the options being considered is increasing pension contributions from retirees . For Hollande, who is now a member of parliament for Corrèze, there are “no wealthy retirees, except those who have supplementary pensions or who have pensions from their own savings .” And very few of them have “substantial pensions.”

He then proposed setting the legal retirement age at 63 , and then gradually increasing the contribution period. A measure unlikely to be popular with the left. But, he argues, “wanting to safeguard the pay-as-you-go pension system is a socialist principle.”

Also promoting his new book, Unir – Nouveau monde, nouvelle gauche (Unite – New World, New Left ), the former president then addressed the issue of purchasing power. He proposed increasing “net wages by reducing employee social security contributions .” This loss of tax revenue for Social Security would be offset by a levy on capital, through a “progressive tax on financial income” and “a gradual increase from 20% to 24% in the standard VAT rate . “
