Marine Le Pen’s niece was expelled from the Reconquête! party in June 2024 after calling for a vote for the National Rally in the legislative elections. In an interview with Le Figaro, Marion Maréchal announced the creation of her own political movement, named Identité-Libertés (Identity-Freedoms).
After being excluded from the Reconquête! party in June, Marion Maréchal decided to launch her own political movement, as she announced in an interview with Le Figaro published on Monday, October 7, 2024. It is called Identité-Libertés (IDL) and she is the president.
A coalition with the National Rally and “all useful forces”
Marine Le Pen’s niece, who left politics and the National Front in 2017, asserts that she will “work towards a structured coalition alongside Marine Le Pen, Jordan Bardella, and Éric Ciotti.” According to the MEP, “we need to do better and work with all useful forces, including Nicolas Dupont-Aignan.”
Within this coalition with the National Rally, Marion Maréchal wants to “give voice to a civilizational right wing that is simultaneously anti-welfare, anti-social welfare, and anti-tax extortion, breaking with the ‘mental socialism’ that has guided public finances for far too long,” she explained to the newspaper.
She will support Marine Le Pen in the 2027 presidential election.
If she doesn’t join Jordan Bardella’s far-right party, she assures that she will support her aunt in the 2027 presidential election. “It is the French people who tell us that the National Rally must be at the heart of this coalition, having established it as the leading party in France,” she explains. ” It is therefore logical that Marine Le Pen should be the legitimate candidate of the nationalist camp. That is why I will support her and work with her to build a majority in the National Assembly that represents the civilized right that I champion.”
Within this new political movement, Marion Maréchal can count on three of the four MEPs elected on her Zemmourist list in June: Guillaume Peltier, Nicolas Bay, and Laurence Trochu. The RN’s apprentice MPs Thibaut Monnier, Anne Sicard, and Eddy Casterman are also part of it.
