The lawyer attended the annual meeting of UNESCO Goodwill Ambassadors after meeting with the Greek President and Prime Minister.

For Amal Clooney, normality means walking the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival one day , wearing a stunning black gown by Haider Ackermann for Tom Ford, and then meeting the Greek president and prime minister in Athens the next. This is how events unfolded, almost literally, this week. Just days after her appearance at the Venice Film Festival, where her husband George Clooney received a lifetime achievement award, the human rights lawyer traveled to Greece to attend the annual meeting of UNESCO Goodwill Ambassadors.

A few hours before this meeting, Amal had time to be received first by Greek President Konstantinos Tasoulas at the presidential palace in Athens, and then by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and his wife Mareva Grabowski-Mitsotakis at their official residence. For these meetings, Amal opted for a burgundy Bottega Veneta suit that had been a staple in her wardrobe since 2017, the year she was seen wearing it at New York’s JFK airport on her way to the UN Security Council meeting. To complete her outfit, she chose an accessory from another Italian brand: Gucci, with a Bamboo Vendetta bag.

A few hours later, at the Temple of Zeus, UNESCO held its annual meeting, themed ” Artificial Intelligence and Culture.” Amal Clooney participated in the discussion alongside the Greek president, the Minister of Culture, and the UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for the Protection and Promotion of Culture. For the occasion, the lawyer chose a very successful outfit: a white pantsuit with wide-legged trousers and a matching V-neck vest. The ensemble respected the formality required for such an event while combining modernity and classicism, perfectly complementing her appearance, as evidenced by the image published by UNESCO.

The conversation focused on the challenges that artificial intelligence poses to culture and cultural heritage, as well as how new technologies are transforming the conservation and promotion of cultural assets. The Greek president and the lawyer discussed a similar topic during their meeting.

According to government sources, efforts to reunite the Parthenon sculptures with the Athens monument featured prominently in the conversation. Amal Clooney played a significant role in the sculptures’ return in 2014, when Tasoulas was Minister for Culture. He commissioned the law firm where Amal works to conduct a study on the conditions and available avenues for reclaiming them. “I must acknowledge that her contribution, with the opinion she delivered on the reunification of the sculptures, was truly decisive. It provided a deeper understanding of the issue, because it is not simply about returning works of art, nor is it a matter of victory or defeat for the United Kingdom . The reunification of the sculptures with the Parthenon is a gesture of paramount importance, and that is something the British side needs to understand,” the Prime Minister said of her work.
