The Resort Collection of 2026, Max Mara looks back on his roots at the same time on the women who have shaped modern Italy. The collection pays tribute to 1951 – the year Achille Maramotti founded the fashion house and American photographer Ruth Orkin immortalized a new generation.

At that time, a woman traveling alone on the streets of Florence, Rome or Naples was still considered an exceptional phenomenon. Today, 75 years later, it is a symbol of independence, strength and self-determination – values that have accompanied Max Mara since his inception. While the Roman couture houses were vying for the attention of nobles and aristocrats, Maramotti in Reggio Emilia relied on intelligent, functional and affordable fashion for the up-and-coming middle class. The wives of doctors, lawyers and entrepreneurs became the target group of a new era.

The Resort Collection 2026 combines this story with the unmistakable aesthetics of post-war Italy. Inspired by the idea of the bella figura – the Italian claim to always appear stylish and confident – the collection combines the sensuality of the South with the pragmatics of the North. Film classics such as L’Oro di NapoliNapoli Milionaria or Riso Amaro served as a cultural reference. Icons such as Sophia Loren and Silvana Mangano stand for the self-confident femininity that runs through the entire collection.

A special highlight is the cooperation with the traditional Neapolitan house E. Marinella. His famous tie patterns from 1951 appear reinterpreted on luxurious silk pajamas, cashmere sweaters and accessories. The collection is complemented by striped shirts, casually cut jackets modeled on the Neapolitan tailoring as well as flared skirts and feminine slip dresses.

In addition, Max Mara presents his timeless coat classics in different variants – from belt coats to models with shawl collars to fringe details. The evening is provided by crystal-set, strapless robes made of dense wool fabric, whose refined constructions embody Italian elegance and self-confidence.

The iconic Whitney bag is also getting an update. Four exclusive reinterpretations and five new silk scarves will be used from the 18th. June on the official website of Max Mara.

The collection was presented at one of Italy’s most impressive places: the baroque Reggia di Caserta. Against the monumental backdrop of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Max Mara celebrated a collection that focuses on the pride, passion and strength of Italian women – in the spirit of the “Venere Vesuviana”, the Vesuvius Venus of Naples.
