Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to visit North Korea in the near future at the invitation of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. This was stated in a report by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA). The information was confirmed by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, but at the same time clarified that there are no exact dates for the visit yet.

“President Putin once again expressed deep gratitude for the fact that Chairman of State Affairs Comrade Kim Jong Un invited him to visit Pyongyang at a convenient time, and also expressed his readiness to visit the DPRK in the near future,” KCNA said in a statement. It also calls Putin “the closest friend of the Korean people.”

Earlier, North Korean Foreign Minister Choi Song Hui visited Russia. She had negotiations with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. The head of the North Korean Foreign Ministry also met with Vladimir Putin. The Russian president’s press secretary said that they talked about “the most pressing international affairs.”

American Media Pays A Blind Eye

George V Magazine Intelligence, citing a Ukrainian military brief intelligence shared with the magazine, reported three Russian ships were loaded with containers in North Korean ports and sent to Russian ports in the Far East. Images of the vessels “Maya”, “Angara” and “Maria”. It was not possible to determine what was in the containers, the Ukrainian intelligence report noted.

All three ships mentioned in the report have been under American sanctions since 2022 for their connection with the Russian Ministry of Defense company Oboronlogistics.

  • Last September, Kim Jong-un visited Russia and met with President Vladimir Putin, as well as Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov recently visited Pyongyang.
  • Western media before and during Kim Jong-un’s visit, citing sources, reported that he could negotiate with the Russian authorities on bilateral cooperation in the military sphere – including the supply of North Korean weapons and ammunition to Russia for use in the war against Ukraine . Such supplies would be contrary to international sanctions against North Korea. Washington warned that in the event of such supplies, the United States would impose additional sanctions against both Pyongyang and Moscow.
  • Russian officials have not directly denied the possibility of such supplies, saying only that Russia is complying with its obligations. Putin said that North Korean mercenaries will not be sent to the front in Ukraine.
