Everyone knows that Oreo is milk’s favorite cookie, but it seems like it’s becoming the favorite collaboration cookie as well. Sure, places like McDonald’s and Dairy Queen have offered Oreo items on their menus for years, but recently, Oreo-flavored items have been popping up everywhere.
Papa Johns launched Oreo Papa Bites in 2022, Baskin-Robbins brought Oreos to the menu in mega ways in 2023, and now Jack in the Box is selling an Oreo Ultimate Cookie Bar to ring in 2024.
But fast food collabs aren’t the only way Oreo is making a splash. In fact, you’re about to see Oreo products in stores like never before—and we’re not just talking about the new cookie flavors. This year, Oreo is launching an all-new line of baking mixes and frostings.
You might be thinking can’t I buy Oreo cake mixes in stores now? And, while Oreo baking mixes are not a fever dream—Oreo had a partnership with Pillsbury’s Funfetti for a line of cake mixes, pancake mixes, and frosting—you likely can’t find them right now.
It seems Oreo is hanging up its hat with the Pillsbury Doughboy and moving on to a collaboration with another legacy brand: Betty Crocker.
Oreo and Betty Crocker Launch New Baking Mix Line
On Jan. 1, Betty Crocker announced that a new line of Oreo baking mixes and whipped frostings are coming to shelves this year. The line will include four baking mixes for cakes and brownies, all made with real Oreos, plus one can of whipped frosting that tastes just like Oreo’s iconic creme filling.
The new baking mixes include Oreo Brownie, Chocolate Cake, White Cake, and Lava Cake. All of which can be taken exceptionally over the top with the addition of the Oreo Creme Flavored Whipped Frosting.
Betty Crocker says its Oreo line is coming soon to retailers nationwide. The brand confirmed to Allrecipes that the baking mixes began shipping to retailers on Jan. 1 and the frosting will be shipped on Jan. 22. The mixes will cost $4.22 and the frosting will cost $2.98.
So, you’ll likely find the cake mixes at your local grocery store before the frosting. However, we’re sure any one of those Oreo desserts will taste delicious with a simple whipped cream or buttercream frosting.
