You can freely switch between a classic and a modern sensibility with just slight changes to details such as color, fit, and accessories. Jennifer Lopez, who makes even an ordinary look special, has reinterpreted the suit in her own unique style.
Out in Los Angeles last weekend, Lopez perfectly wore an outfit from Alessandro Michele’s Valentino 2026 Pre-Fall collection. She wore a gray pinstripe blazer in the style of a 1980s power suit with sharp shoulders, complemented by a white collar and a polka-dot scarf that created a vintage vibe. She paired this with a floral skirt with a subtle sheen to create a fresh contrast. It was a look that boldly shattered the stereotype that “both the top and bottom must be business wear.”
The accessory styling was also clever. She matched accessories such as Saint Laurent brown patent leather slingback pumps and Bottega Veneta shield sunglasses, and completed the look with a black shoulder bag.

If a classic pantsuit feels a bit too formal, try pairing it with a skirt like Lopez. It is perfectly fine if the style is completely different from the blazer. In fact, the look becomes more interesting when slightly different vibes meet.
