The actress was beautiful in blue at the 78th annual Primetime Emmy Awards
Carey Mulligan was a vision as she arrived at the 78th annual Primetime Emmy Awards in LA on Monday night, with the actress, executive producer, and first-time Emmy nominee making her entrance in a vibrant gown that arguably the most surprising look of the night. And not because Mulligan didn’t look immaculate; she did – but what no doubt caught onlookers off guard was the brand behind her gown.
Believe it or not, Mulligan’s look was pulled from The Row’s autumn/winter 2026 collection. Founded by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, The Row has become synonymous with understated luxury – so at first glance, Mulligan’s embellished strapless gown seemed at odds with the brand’s pared-back aesthetic.
Crafted from a royal blue fabric and adorned with an abstract white pattern, Mulligan’s dress was beautifully undone, from the draped neckline and raw edges to the deconstructed bow that spilled down the gown’s back – a marked departure from the brand’s signature unfussy styling.
Mulligan wore the dress with diamond studs, a pearl ring, and pointed-toe heels in a stark-white shade. As for glam, she kept things simple, opting for natural make-up and wearing her hair slicked back into a bun.
For her Emmys debut, the Beef star earned a spot in two of the most highly-coveted categories of the evening: Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie and Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series. Rhea Seehorn ended up scooping the Lead Actress gong for her turn in Pluribus, while DTF St Louis won in the latter category.
While this was her first time nominated at the Emmys, Mulligan has long been recognized for her contributions to the industry. Since rising to fame with 2009’s An Education, she has been nominated at the Oscars, Tonys, and Golden Globes alike. She has both a BAFTA and a Critics’ Choice to her name.
