Count on underwear in microfiber mesh or fine cotton with a flat edge in stretch lace or a clean cut second-skin effect. Advice that’s valid for a thong, a tanga or a boy short. Besides, what is the ideal shape? Quite simply the one that you are comfortable in. Just choose the right size: how long has it been since you checked it? A size larger than your standard jeans is sometimes a good idea for comfort and to avoid marks.
Denim that gives you support
No matter the shade, raw dark blue, black, anthracite, faded, stone or white, it is first of all the material that should appeal to you. If you want to take good care of your buttocks, do not restrict them with fake jeans saturated with elastane that will make you look sausage-like and flatten your curves. A shame if you complain about having flat or overly rounded buttocks. Forget skinny jeans and jeggings, these distant cousins of slim jeans that mold the leg like leggings.
Also avoid fine fabrics weakened by an abrasive wash: after a few washes, your jeans will end up revealing orange peel skin and cellulite and will corkscrew your legs. Opt for a nice 100% cotton fabric (check the composition label) with a weave that is neither too rigid nor too flexible and with stitching that does not twist. Your jeans will shape you nicely without compressing you. Pure cotton denim is not uncomfortable, but if you are not comfortable, accept a small addition of elastane (no more than 2%). Then test different cuts according to your waist size, the width of your hips, the length of your bust, your legs and the thickness of your ankles: in fact, stopping at the shape of your buttocks would be a mistake, it is your entire body shape that you must take into account when dressing.
Discreetly loose pants
Are there pants that delight all buttocks, from the smallest to the most playful? First, eliminate false friends. If you find your buttocks too round, do not impose cuts that risk disturbing them and unbalancing your silhouette: the soft canvas capri pants with their mid-calf hem will visually shorten the leg and widen the buttocks; the wide pants cut in a fine material will float on your posterior and reveal what you do not want to show (= buttocks that, for you, lack shape or that have too much). Bet on straight pants with a mid-rise waist with legs that are a little wide but not too wide and that tighten at the bottom. This would be the equivalent of girlfriend jeans. Neither loose nor fitted, they promise comfort and style to all silhouettes without making a crease. Pay attention to the pockets on the buttocks (neither too small nor too wide) and their location (depending on their position, they can round the bottom or flatten it). Too low, hello flat buttock. Too high, the buttock is unbalanced. The right place: in the middle of the buttocks. And then, pay attention to pockets that spread apart or the bottom of the pocket that sticks out: blame a size problem (the pants are too small for your hips) or a cut and pass your turn.
A dress soberly flared at the hips
It can be almost straight or a little loose. It is neither tight nor wide. Its secret: a material that gives it a controlled drape. How do you know? You don’t feel like you’re putting on a nightgown, you don’t look like a sack but you are wearing a piece whose apparent simplicity gives you character. Depending on your body shape and the style you like, it can be marked at the waist or trapeze, mid-thigh or mid-calf. And possibly with darts or gathers. It doesn’t hide your figure but also doesn’t emphasize curves that you don’t want to show. On the contrary, it lengthens the look. Afterwards, all styles are allowed: long t-shirt dress in thick jersey with a side slit, flowing dress with a smocked waist, sixties-style printed trapeze dress, fitted shirt dress with a petticoat-effect skirt… And if your rounded buttocks want to express themselves more strongly, slip into a sexy wrap dress in soft jersey.
