Putin Proposed To Launch “Children’s Book Card” From 2026

“A book is an integral part of the educational process and family traditions. And books for children, which open the way to the world of great classical literature with its high moral values, should be accessible to everyone,” the Russian president explained his initiative.

Vladimir Putin proposed launching the “Children’s Book Card” program similar to the “Pushkin Card” from 2026. Its face value will be 3 thousand rubles.

Families with preschool children aged three to six will be able to receive the card. Moreover, the head of state made a special emphasis on the fact that it will be available to every child upon reaching the age of three.

The President emphasized that the publications that can be purchased using the Children’s Book Card must be selected by recognized experts, famous writers, child psychologists, and specialists in preschool education and upbringing.

According to Putin, those publishing houses that decide to participate in the program must focus on “reasonable price parameters.” The head of state added that 3 thousand rubles on the card should be enough to purchase at least 10 books.

Another analogue of the “Pushkin Card” called “Silver Age” may also appear in Russia. With it, women over 55 and men over 60 will be able to attend cultural events for free.

State Duma deputy Yana Lantratova noted that regions will be able to independently determine the list of institutions, taking into account local specifics. According to her, many pensioners cannot afford to buy tickets to theaters, museums and concerts, and the new program will improve their psychological and physical well-being.
