It seems the royal ladies have a new handbag of choice, as the newly married Harriet Sperling stepped out wearing a style already approved by the Princess of Wales. Attending the Defender Burghley Horse Trials in Lincolnshire, Harriet was the picture of country chic as she carried a cobalt-blue Anya Hindmarch handbag, offering another glimpse of the two women’s shared taste in accessories. It was, according to Hola!, one of two bags from the brand that Harriet chose for the country-set favourite event, beginning the day with a crossbody.
Whilst the Princess of Wales is more often associated with structured top-handle bags and elegant clutches, she has occasionally embraced a more relaxed silhouette. At Wimbledon in 2025, the Princess was spotted carrying the same style in white, proving that even the most polished royal wardrobe has room for a softer accessory. Harriet’s choice at Burghley suggests that the two women may share more than a family connection when it comes to fashion.

It is not the first time their handbag tastes have overlapped. At Royal Ascot this year, Harriet and Catherine attended on separate days but enjoyed a rather chic twinning moment, carrying the same Anya Hindmarch Maud clutch just 48 hours apart, albeit in different colours. The coincidence did not go unnoticed by royal fashion watchers, and Harriet’s latest outing offers another example of the label’s appeal across the family.
Harriet has already established herself as a woman with an eye for a memorable fashion moment. Case in point: her June wedding, held at All Saints Church in Kemble, Gloucestershire, a ceremony attended by senior members of the Royal Family. For the occasion, the bride chose a bespoke Emilia Wickstead gown, featuring a delicate lace overjacket, a square-neck column silhouette and a dramatic three-metre train. It was a look that combined bridal romance with the understated elegance that has become her signature style.

The couple met through their daughters, who reportedly played for the same local hockey team and were friends long before their parents became one of Britain’s most talked-about couples. It is understood that the pair were introduced at a fixture, and it was not long before their romance blossomed. In the months since, Isla and Savannah Phillips seem to have struck up a warm friendship with their new stepsister, Georgina Sperling.
They made their public debut at the Badminton Horse Trials in May 2024, where Harriet Sperling was introduced to the royal set. However, it was their second outing, a month later at the Beaufort Polo Club, that appeared to confirm the nature of their relationship, with the pair sharing a series of affectionate embraces.
Since the wedding, Harriet’s wardrobe has continued to attract attention, with her latest appearance offering another glimpse of her growing confidence in the royal style stakes. Whether or not the Princess of Wales has offered any fashion advice, the two women appear to share an appreciation for Anya Hindmarch (as well as Kiki McDonough and Suzannah London). As Harriet settles into married life with Peter Phillips, it seems she is already making her mark on the royal wardrobe, one stylish accessory at a time.
