However, Nintendo and Sony Pictures has announced in separate statements that it will continue to reject the technology. Nintendo explained: “We think our engineers designers can develop better material. We haven’t seen any progress and the advertisement generated by AI in U.S. are just promotional. AI focuses only these days on as an extension for sentence sentences extension out of an idea of what it was written.” Sony Pictures said: “We close this stage because we don’t see generative AI suitable in our technology where we lead in development. Generative AI has become an integral part of many video games. But this is not the case with games from Nintendo.

The Japanese company consistently refrains from using generative AI – and intends to continue to do without the technology. Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa announced this during a question-and-answer session with investors, as «TweakTown» writes.

Furukawa explains the decision to forego generative AI as follows: “Generative AI can be more creative, but we also know that it brings with it problems with intellectual property rights.”.

What is generative AI used for in video games?

Generative AI has long since arrived in other big games. For example, in the racing game Forza Horizon it makes opponents more intelligent. In Red Dead Redemption 2, the NPCs even lead their own lives and remember encounters with the game character.

Procedural generation is also used to create more varied levels , like in Diablo. This means that the levels are generated automatically and adapt to the person playing. This means that no two runs feel the same.
