The Duo Takes Over The Brand’s Artistic Vision.
The news confirms speculation that the design duo will succeed Jonathan Anderson, who left Loewe last week after 11 years of transformative work at the house . McCollough and Hernandez will take up their duties at Loewe next month.
“It is a great honor for us to join Loewe, a house whose values and mission deeply resonate with ours,” they said in an official statement. ‘We look forward to working with the exceptional teams and artisans whose talent – under the extraordinary creative direction of Jonathan Anderson – has shaped Loewe into the force it is today.’
McCollough and Hernandez met while studying at New York’s Parsons the New School of Design, and started their own brand shortly after graduating in 2002. Proenza Schouler quickly took New York Fashion Week by storm, and the launch of their iconic PS-1 bag in 2008 marked a turning point for the brand. Over the years, they have won five CFDA awards , including honors for accessory design and women’s fashion.
