Kate opened up in a very personal and emotional video. The reality star, who has had to fight back against body shaming , spoke candidly on Instagram about currently taking antidepressants and struggling with Bipolar Disorder and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) for some time: “I’m basically a walking NHS case study.” Kate revealed that it felt strange to say it out loud, but emphasized that it was “totally okay” to admit it. Her post, released to coincide with the end of Mental Health Awareness Week, sparked a wave of gratitude from her fans.

In the video, Kate vividly described what poor mental health feels like: “It’s the feeling of being constantly tense, overthinking everything, and mentally tired. Smiling and joking on the outside while your mind is doing the exact opposite.” She revealed that she takes the medication Citalopram and had previously suffered from postpartum depression five years ago. She also appealed to her followers not to worry about seeking help: “You are not dramatic. You are not weak, you are human.”

The comments section then filled with messages from grateful fans. “Thank you for being so open about your mental health, that’s a brave thing to do,” one person wrote. Another user also expressed their gratitude, adding: “It’s comforting to know I’m not alone.”

Kate was the first woman ever to win the British version of Big Brother in 2002 and has remained in the public eye ever since – among other things as a radio presenter for stations like Capital FM and Virgin Radio. She also co-hosts the podcast “Boj and Kate Have a Lot on Their Plate” with her partner. There, she recently spoke about her decision not to have any more children, citing her experiences with postpartum depression and her emotional and mental limits. Her daughter Noa is now four years old.
