Late in the evening of Friday, May 29, 2026, like a bolt from the blue. For all Italian fans who were looking forward to enjoying the Kanye West concert, bad news: the Prefecture of Reggio Emilia canceled the live show. Breaking the news was Il Resto del Carlino, which explained the authorities’ decision regarding the highly anticipated July 18 date for what was originally the highlight event at the Rcf Arena in Campovolo of the now former Hellwatt Festival.

Originally, because the prefect Salvatore Angieri, a few weeks before the concert, explained that “the decision was taken due to the need to protect public order and safety, taking into account the close temporal connection between the events and the high influx of public expected over 24 hours. On the overall assessment, the cancellation of previous concerts of the U.S. rapper in other countries and the concrete risk of counter-demonstrations have also assumed importance.”

In short, concerns related to previous situations in Europe that have already seen the cancellation of several dates for Kanye’s concerts, but also logistical reasons within 24 hours. Yes, because originally, on July 17, also at the RCF Arena, Travis Scott’s concert was also supposed to be staged, which was also therefore canceled at the behest of the authorities.

The Resto del Carlino further explains, quoting the note, that “the prefect, following the petitions presented by Codacons and the Jewish Community of Modena and Reggio Emilia, which have expressed concerns about the concert of rapper Kanye West, scheduled for July 18 at the Rcf Arena in Reggio Emilia as part of the ‘Pulse of Gaia Festival,’ convened a meeting of the provincial committee for public order and safety on May 25.”

Meeting that disposed that there were no safety prerequisites for the holding of both concerts, canceled both. In short, another hard blow for Kanye, once again “cancelled” from a billboard, but also for Travis Scott and for the Pulse of Gaia Festival, formerly the Hellwatt Festival, born not under the best auspices and now also deprived of two of the most important events on its calendar.
