Ever since Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana launched the Dolce&Gabbana brand in 1985, they have built the aesthetic of their fashion house on Sicilian roots and its vibrant culture. It is precisely this inseparable connection that is celebrated by the new book Dolce&Gabbana: ArteModa, which presents the very essence of their creative vision, where knowledge, passion and beauty merge into a singular whole. Although the brand has been drawing strength from painting and sculpture since the 1990s, that dialogue became even deeper and more deliberate with the launch of the Alta Moda and Alta Sartoria lines, which brought together exceptional tailoring craftsmanship and timeless artistic masterpieces.

Published by the prestigious publishing house Rizzoli, the book uses rich illustrations to explore all the artistic sources that have inspired the Italian fashion duo since the very beginnings of the fashion house. Over four decades of existence, Dolce&Gabbana has reinterpreted icons of art history on its most famous designs with remarkable success, transforming Van Gogh’s Sunflowers or Caravaggio’s Basket of Fruit into wearable masterpieces. From the precision of Byzantine mosaics and the elegance of Renaissance masters such as Leonardo and Botticelli, all the way to Dalí’s modern Surrealism and the raw energy of the street art of Basquiat and Haring, Dolce&Gabbana: ArteModa celebrates, across 328 pages, a creativity that erases the boundaries between the runway and the museum gallery.
