Michelle Pfeiffer is officially amongst the greats.
On Friday, April 25, the 66-year-old actress got her hand and footprints cemented at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood, California, during the TCM Classic Film Festival.
On hand to honor her were Dakota and Elle Fanning, with whom Pfeiffer starred in the 2001 drama I Am Sam, opposite Sean Penn.
Both sisters made their big-screen debuts with the movie. Elle, 27, played the younger version of Lucy, the daughter of Penn’s character Sam, who is played for most of the film by Dakota, 31.
Pfeiffer and Elle would later go on to reunite onscreen in 2019’s Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.
The honoree’s longtime love David E. Kelley — who is the showrunner and an executive producer for the upcoming series Margo’s Got Money Troubles, starring Pfeiffer and Elle — joined her for the event, where the two shared a kiss.
Pfeiffer’s acting career spans over five decades. Her role as Stephanie in 1982’s Grease 2 quickly garnered Hollywood’s attention, followed by her leading role in Scarface with Al Pacino a year later.
In 1989, Pfeiffer earned her first Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her work in Dangerous Liaisons. She went on to receive two more Oscar nods for Best Actress in 1990 for The Fabulous Baker Boys, and in 1993 for Love Field.
While her film roles in the ‘80s and ‘90s, including as Selina Kyle/Catwoman in 1992’s Batman Returns, shot her to stardom, Pfeiffer remains in the limelight. In 2007, she starred in the film adaptation of the musical Hairspray.
Pfeiffer’s acting career also extends to the small screen. In 2017, she joined Robert De Niro for HBO’s TV movie The Wizard of Lies — a role that earned her first Emmy nomination for Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie. Most recently, Pfeiffer played Betty Ford in Showtime’s The First Lady.
She will next star alongside Elle once again in the upcoming drama miniseries Margo’s Got Money Troubles, based on the 2024 novel by Rufi Thorpe.
Elle, who also narrated the audiobook, and Dakota are among the Apple TV+ project’s team of executive producers, as are Thorpe, Pfeiffer and their costar Nicole Kidman, among others.
We suspect they coordinated ahead of time.
Elle Fanning in Totême
This is cutely elegant and low-key. A dress that says “I’m here for you but I’m not making this about me.” The styling is low-key, as it should be. The slides are cute.
Dakota Fanning in Dolce & Gabbana
This is also pretty cute, although we don’t love that thick horizontal ruching in the bodice. The gold sandals are a great choice.
Michele Pfeiffer in 16AOUT The Row
She’s standing in cement, so we won’t get huffy about the tuck being a little sloppy. It’s a chic, kickass look that doesn’t ask too much of her and allows her to get down on the sidewalk and still look fabulous doing it.
