The latest movie is also Cameron’s first release in 11 years – serendipitously called Back in Action – and she stars opposite friend Jamie Foxx.
But why has it been so long since we last saw Cameron on the red carpet, and even longer since we saw her leading a new film?
Well, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Cameron decided to take a step back from acting because, “it felt like the right thing for me to do to reclaim my own life and I just really didn’t care about anything else. Nobody’s opinion, nobody’s success, no one’s offer, no one’s anything could change my mind about my decision of taking care of myself and building the life that I really wanted to have,” she said.
Spending time with her family was the priority for Cameron, who is married to Good Charlotte musician Benji Madden, and has a daughter Raddix and son Cardinal. As well as focusing on her family, Cameron has been busy with her clean wine brand Avaline, which launched in 2020.
However, Cameron said that co-star Jamie Foxx convinced her to come on board for the new film, saying she, “couldn’t say no to Jamie. He said, ‘Come with me,’ and I said, ‘OK let’s do it’; it’s our third film together, so it’s really great.”
The A-lister praised her husband for his support in her decision to reenter Hollywood saying, “he was like, ‘You’ve been supporting us and building the family’ and supporting him in his businesses, he’s like, ‘It’s time for us to support you and let Mommy ascend and do her thing.’”
