The ‘Barbie’ costars are set to reunite in the upcoming ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ movie

George Clooney thinks the casting for the new Ocean’s Eleven movie is on the money.

After it was reported that Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling will play Clooney’s character Danny Ocean’s parents in the film, the actor, 62, shared with reporters at the Los Angeles premiere of The Boys in the Boat on Monday.

Asked if he’d heard about the franchise’s new flick, Clooney said, “Yeah! Margot Robbie is my mother? I’ve always thought that.”

“Ryan Gosling is my father,” he continued. “Now when you think about it, it makes sense. Truly.”

It was revealed that the Barbie costars are set to reunite in the upcoming movie by producer Josey McNamara.

“They’re wonderful together,” McNamara told GamesRadar+ in October of Robbie, 33, and Gosling, 43. “The more projects even outside of that we can have them do would be amazing.”

“I can’t really say much, but I think we’re just trying to do right by the franchise,” McNamara continued of the plot. “I’m excited for people to experience it when it’s ready.”

Alongside Robbie, her husband Tom Ackerley and Sophia Kerr, McNamara is a co-founder of LuckyChap Entertainment, which produced Barbie and will also produce the upcoming Ocean’s prequel.

Robbie’s publicist previously told PEOPLE that the project is “an original Ocean’s film set in the ’60s.”

PEOPLE also confirmed that the Oscar-nominated actress will be working with her Bombshell director Jay Roach on the flick.

Roger Friedman’s Showbiz 411 was the first to report that Robbie and Gosling will star as Clooney’s character’s parents.

In the original Las Vegas-based heist movie, Clooney starred as ex-con Danny Ocean, who teamed up with his friend Rusty Ryan (Brad Pitt) to pitch a heist and recruit a team of criminal specialists who could help them pull it off.

The film, which also starred Don Cheadle and Casey Affleck, went on to spawn two direct sequels: 2004’s Ocean’s Twelve and 2007’s Ocean’s Thirteen. The all-female Ocean’s 8 spinoff followed in 2018, starring Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett and Anne Hathaway.
